Spring is approaching fast, and it is such an exciting time for us at A Little Cake. This time of year is where we can showcase some of our new designs for communion and confirmation cakes. You can choose from a variety of design options. Tiered cakes have become a favorite for communion celebrations depending on the number of people attending the party that will determine how many tiers the cake will be. Choosing an icing will also be a factor in design options. Some designs can only be achieved when using fondant, yet other communion cake designs can be both made in buttercream and fondant. Some beautiful communion and confirmation cakes can be in the shape of Crosses and Bibles. Also, a basic sheet cake can be dressed up very nicely using buttercream or sugar flowers. This would be a great addition to make an unforgettable cake. These cakes are more than just a desert; they are edible centerpieces that tie in the meal with the communion or confirmation dinner. Best of all, it provides a great photo opportunity.
Here are some examples; We made a cross cake that feeds about 70-80 people and is iced with a light blue fondant. This design also includes a sugar cross and piped line work around the top border. We also came up with an oval shaped cake with a cross adorning the center with a lace piped border. Moving to the tiered cakes; We made this Beautifull two tiered fondant cake with quilting and hand painted gold crosses topped with sugar flowers.
